So I decided to stop watching the news for a while and not allow all the predictions, speculations, and opinions of people get to my heart. I realized that feeding on all this information was not producing any good fruit in my life. The more I listened to the news, the more anxious and frustrated I became. It allows us to know that we are embraced by the Lord of the universe and that we are going to be ok.Ī few days ago, I found myself anxious about the future of this country and where we are headed if this situation continues to go on. We can’t open ourselves up to all sorts of information out there and expect to keep our peace! The Lord tells us that those whose mind stays on Him, will enjoy perfect peace! According to the above definition, His peace gives us a sense of safety and contentment. In the midst of this global issue, we need to remind ourselves that the enemy intends to steal, kill, and destroy people’s peace, wellbeing, and lives. In addition, there is misinformation, manipulation, and exaggeration that makes it difficult to discern between truth and partial truth. The news networks are banking on people’s fears by giving them more issues to think and worry about. All the noise around us along with circumstances try to pressure people into stress, worry, and panic. It’s difficult to keep our minds focused on the Lord when there is upheaval in the world. Praying we’re all able to stay focused on him and find the peace we truly need.For the Lord, the Lord himself, is the Rock eternal.ĭefinition of Perfect (according to Strong’s Concordance): completeness, soundness, welfare, peace, completeness (in number), safety, soundness (in body), welfare, health, prosperity, peace, quiet, tranquillity, contentment. Why should we look at him or look TO him? Because he is the source of the joy, reconciliation, retribution, provision, strength, love, faithfulness, peace and a host of other things we need. “Aren’t you going to say something to the person that did me wrong?”Īnd like a loving parent who wants the best for his children, he’s saying “Look at me.” “But don’t you see the foolishness that’s plaguing the church?” With so many things vying for our attention, perhaps God is saying something similar to us today. ![]() Or maybe you can think of an instance where through the circumstances of life or a still small voice, God did (or is doing) the same with you. If you have children in your family or work with them, I’m sure you could provide 20 more examples you’ve witnessed over the years. “But I don’t want to be quiet/still/patient.” Or maybe the child has been stimulated by too many things and genuinely can’t concentrate. ![]() The parent grabs the child by the shoulders or holds her face in the palm of their hand and says “Look at me,” repeatedly as the child’s troubled mind and body wants to retaliate for some wrongdoing that occurred. Whenever I read that passage, I think of a parent trying to calm a child who has been wronged or is a bit out of control. “You will keep in perfect and constant peace the one whose mind is steadfast, Because he trusts and takes refuge in You. ![]() You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you. When I think of the word peace, so many songs and scriptures come to mind, but the first scripture is in Isaiah. ![]()
